Union City Schools Concession Stand

Union City Schools Concession Stand

Project Details

Union City, PA
1,346 square feet
End Use: Education. Concessions Stand and Restrooms Facility

The Union City Area School District wanted a new ADA-compliant building that would serve multiple purposes for the athletic complex. The district needed ticketing windows, a concession stand and restroom facilities. Utilizing its Sourcewell membership, the school district awarded the design-build project to BlueScope Construction. By using its cooperative purchasing contract, the district was able to quickly get the best price for quality construction and use local subcontractors, without going through the usual drawn-out bid process.

The new 1,300-square-foot-building includes handicapped-accessible restrooms, new kitchen facilities and heated floors to minimize future freeze and thaw foundation issues as a result of severe Pennsylvania winters.

The building was constructed of block with decorative brick siding and a green metal roof to match the nearby school buildings. The layout of the building allows the same workers to take tickets on one side of the facility and serve concessions on the other. The new ADA-compliant restrooms and heated floors contribute to an enjoyable experience for all.

For this project, BlueScope Construction was able to meet a four-month schedule. The facility opened in time for the first home football game of the season!
